The Summer 2011 Health Literacy Class, which focused on the health literacy issues, started on July 5 and finished on August 18th.
This program was sponsored by the NYC Mayor's Office of Education in partnership with Borough of Manhattan Community College and Hamilton Madison House.
The teaching is conducted by Ke Xu, BMCC ESL instructor, and Victoria Cimino, the Health Literacy Fellow sent by the NYC Mayor's Office of Adult Education.
The teachinbg site is 50 Hamilton Madison House, New York, NY 10038. The class meets 4 times a day Monday through Thursday, 9:00am to 1:00pm.
There are altogether 25 students in the class. They are all Chinese, speaking Mandarin, Cantonese, Fukianese, or other Chinese dialects at home. Most of them are housewives.
